Affiliate disclosure

How this site makes money, and what that does and does not change.

Tips in Slovenia participates in affiliate programmes. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and make a booking or a purchase, we may earn a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise.

What that means in practice

Affiliate links appear where we recommend somewhere to stay, something to book or something to buy – hotels, apartments, campsites, tours, transport and occasionally gear. Where an article contains affiliate links, it says so before the first one appears.

Outbound affiliate links are visually distinct from ordinary internal links, and they are marked in the page code with rel="sponsored nofollow" as search engines require.

What it does not mean

A commission does not buy a recommendation. Nothing on this site is a paid placement, no business pays to be included, and a place is not recommended because it pays more. Where two options are compared, the comparison reflects what we actually think, including when the honest answer is that the cheaper one is better.

If a partner and a reader are in conflict, the reader wins. That is not altruism – a travel site that recommends bad hotels stops being read, and then it stops earning.

Programmes

We work with booking platforms, tour operators and travel-related retailers. Where a programme requires a specific statement of participation, that statement appears here and in the relevant articles.
